Woodburning by Grandma
Grandma's Box: Photo #1 is the bottom of the box. Photo #2 is the lid.
Many thanks to Uncle Gene and George for these great photographs of a wood burning Grandma did before she was married. It has such great movement and texture - I wonder if she freehanded the drawing onto the wood.
Either Uncle Gene or Aunt Ruth told me Grandma heated the poker over the wood burning stove till it was red-hot, then she burned a bit of the pattern until the poker cooled, then the poker went back on the stove to start all over again. I can just imagine her doing that in a cold still January.
Aunt Ruth had the wooden plank crafted into a lovely box in the 1980's. Grandma's signature was inset in the bottom of the box. (first photo)
Thanks Gene and George for sharing.
If anyone has insights or tidbits or old photographs dealing with the Kenningtons or Webers which would be of value to the family as a whole, please feel free to add them or email them to me and I'll put them in. Call me for the passwords.
We're still trying to get everyone contacted. Help spread the word and let your families know about the Aug. 9th Reunion at Mom's!
